Marie Stopes Uganda (MSU) is a marketing-focused, results-oriented social business that uses modern management and marketing techniques to provide family planning and reproductive healthcare across every district of Uganda. We aim to contribute 15 points to Uganda's contraceptive prevalence rate by 2015, saving and improving many thousands of Ugandan lives. For over 15 years, Marie Stopes Uganda (MSU) has prided itself on providing a wide range of high quality, affordable and client-centred services to men, women and young people. Our 340 team members work in every district of Uganda and provide approximately 35% of all modern contraception, the majority of which is delivered in hard to reach and remote areas. In 2012, MSU generated over 1.1 million Couple Years of Protection and provided quality services to over 350,000 Ugandans.

Job Summary:
The qualified and experienced Research Supervisors will be called on a seasonal, short term basis depending on organization needs in the following intervention areas: Family planning, Cervical Cancer and HIV/AIDS

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    Conducting interviews and focus group discussions
    Data entry and cleaning
    Mobilizing survey/ research respondents
    Compiling field reports
    Transcribing interviews and focus group discussion proceedings
    Perform any other duties assigned by MSU

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  •     The candidate should possess a degree in Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, medicine, nursing IT or other related research studies
  •     Good understanding and knowledge of research methodologies, including research ethics
  •     Experience in data management and entry
  •     Familiarity and experience in quantitative and qualitative primary data collection techniques
  •     Hands-on knowledge and skills in primary data collection in the communities
  •     Understanding of current issues and developments in the field of Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS, Family Planning, Cervical Cancer and other public diseases of importance
  •     Good understanding of current mass media approaches to information, education and communication is a plus
  •     Good interviewing and verbal communication skills.
  •     Experience in data collection using devices, i.e. computers, smart phones and audio recorders
  •     Willingness travel, work rural areas of Uganda.
  •     Fluency (oral and written) in English required and any of the following local languages: Luganda, Lusogo, Runyankore, Rukiiga, Rutooro, Runyoro, Lugbara, Luo, Ateso, Akaramajong, Samia, Lugisu, and Japadhola among others.
