Nurture Africa (Formally A-Z Children's Charity Uganda) is a Non-Governmental Organization operating in Wakiso and Mubende Districts. Nurture Africa is committed to contribute towards the Health and Development of the most Vulnerable Children in these areas of operation through high quality education, health care, Children’s rights and Sustainable livelihood programs enabling them to become positive influences in Ugandan society. NA primarily targets HIV infected and affected orphans and Vulnerable Children and works with their families holistically for sustainable change to occur.

Job Summary:
The Education Enablement Officer will supervise all activities under the Education Sponsorship program and provide career guidance to the OVC on the program.
to achieve Nurture Africa’s primary objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  •     Rigorously monitor the attendance, performance and discipline of the orphans and Vulnerable children on the sponsorship program
  •     Examine schools to ensure they have provided the vulnerable children with all the necessary items that the program provides.
  •     Follow up on Orphans and Vulnerable Children with special cases In their homes
  •     Offer career guidance to the OVC in candidate and semi candidate classes
  •     Organise meetings and counselling with the OVC on the education sponsorship program
  •     Organise meetings with parents/ guardians of children on the Education Sponsorship program
  •     Ensure that all relevant documentation is made and timely presentation of reports to the project coordinator
  •     Ensure the sponsorship policy is adhered to any reviewed and updated periodically
  •     Ensure the impact of the project is regularly evaluated and the outcomes are included in the education policy
  •     Work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders of the program to ensure proper information flow.
  •     Perform any other duties as assigned by the Education Projects Coordinator – Wakiso.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
 The applicant should possess a Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work and Social Administration/Social Sciences/Development Studies.
 A minimum of three years’ experience in both classroom and community work
 Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
