TRAINER AND PROGRAM COORDINATOR - RPEP PROGRAMME

CONTEXT OF WORK:
Radio La Benevolencija Humanitarian Tools Foundation is a Dutch non-governmental organization working in Rwanda since 2004. The central mission of the organization is to target empower groups and individuals that form the target of hate speech and ensuing acts, and to strengthen the population as a whole.  Through the use of entertainment & education (mainly radio and TV programs) and grassroots empowerment activities, the grassroots associations are given the knowledge of how to resist incitement to violence and heal trauma, encouraging them to be active bystanders in the face of discrimination, scapegoating and mass violence. In Rwanda, RLB produces one of the most popular radio dramas in the country ‘’ Musekeweya ‘’ and has set up a strong network of active bystanders at a grassroots level. PROJECT: RPEP
The vision of "Rwanda Peace Education Program" is to promote social cohesion, critical thinking and positive values in order to enhance sustainable peace. It is in this context that La Benevolencija HTF, in partnership with other organizations in the field of peace building, has agreed to jointly develop an educational program for peace in Rwanda (RPEP/ Rwanda Peace Education Programme ). It is for this program that a Trainer/Outreach Coordinator will be assigned to support RPEP, follow up and coordination on behalf of La Benevolencija and to support the Grassroots Coordinator and other members of the staff of La Benevolencija to maximize outcomes.

DEFINITION OF POSITION:
The Trainer/Outreach Coordinator will, among other responsibilities, facilitate community arts training, community outreach, debate programmes and the monitoring of all activities related to the RPEP project. He/she will work closely with the Grassroots Coordinator and will be directly supervised by the Head of Mission and/or the Deputy Head of Mission.
The Trainer/Outreach Coordinator will be employed by Radio La Benevolencija HTF through a one- year renewable fixed term, starting with a probationary period of three months
The Trainer/Outreach Coordinator will be based in Kigali district Gasabo, Kimihurura sector, Kimihurura cell. However, will be representing the organization's activities throughout the territory of the Republic of Rwanda.

TASKS:
Under the supervision of the Head of Mission and/or Deputy Head of Mission, the Trainer/Outreach Coordinator will have the responsibility to:
• Develop tools for artistic training related RPEP;
• Provide a community arts training with the intention of building the capacity individuals as agents of change;
• Prepare and coordinate cultural and artistic performances during training;
• Organize and facilitate training workshops, community and school debates based on La Benevolencija/RPEP methodology;
• Ensure monitoring of project activities RPEP (experience with outcome mapping an asset);
• Develop and write programming reports;
• Participate in the formulation and finalization of the strategy and the tools of planning, programming , monitoring and evaluation in the implementation of the project RPEP;
• Facilitate the necessary coordination between the partners in the implementation of joint and individual activities in the RPEP project;
• Contribute to the supervision and coordination of the teams deployed in the provinces by the organization in the field to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with the approach adopted by it;
• Help create and maintain dynamic working relationships with state officials and heads of technical services in the areas of intervention;
• Perform any other duties at the request of her/his supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCE:
• Be a citizen of Rwanda;
• Hold a tertiary degree in Social Development, Social Science, Communication, Psychology or other similar science;
• Have knowledge of performance and artistic creation/training;
• Have relevant experience of at least 3 years in one of the areas in the field of community education, creative, artistic performance, behavior change conflict transformation or the communication;
• Have written and spoken fluency in English and/or French. The mastery of both languages is an asset;
• Have proven experience in outreach fieldwork, experience as a team member and working under pressure;
• Have the ability and experience to possess communication skills and drafting of field activities reports to be flexible, open and available;
• Have leadership skills and professionalism;
• Have a working knowledge of computers programs, including Microsoft Office;
• Hold a driver's license - Class B with at least 3 years driving experience is an asset.

START DATE:
• The successful candidate for this position will take office in November 2013.
