Educate seeks Program Secretary

Do you want to join a growing, dynamic, and creative team, and contribute to substantial private sector development in Rwanda? We seeking a Program Secretary who can play an important role in delivering high quality programming aimed at growing business in Rwanda. The main responsibilities include event coordination, program administration, and logistics. The Program Secretary will play a highly important role in creating a successful program.  

About Educat:

Educat has operated in Rwanda since May 2008 and has been formally registered as an International NGO since April 2009. The vision of Educat is to contribute to poverty reduction through private sector development. We aim to approach this development by unleashing the full potential of the individual via a keen focus on creativity and innovation as driving forces in the creation of new and thriving businesses. Over the last five years, Educat has delivered long and short-term business and organizational development programs and workshops, facilitated conferences, and presented lectures at Rwandan and international universities. Our target group consists of entrepreneurs in different stages of development as well as youth in higher education.

About the job:

The Program Secretary will have many responsibilities and will be a key player in the delivery of high quality programming. Daily administration, logistics, and coordination of programming will be the main tasks. The Program Secretary will help make sure the program is run smoothly and efficiently, and in a way that is satisfactory to Educat, our clients, and our donors.

The Programs Secretary will support the management and be responsible for:

-Program Administration and Logistics
-Event Coordination
-Monitoring and Evaluation; data collection and documentation of programming
-Providing support in reporting/ producing material for training and promotional purposes
-Marketing and advertisement for the recruitment of clients for Educat programs
-Managing the schedules of individual entrepreneurs in the training program and of Educat staff members

Desired qualifications:

Besides being ambitious, innovative and entrepreneurial the ideal Programs Secretary has the following qualifications and competencies:

-A university degree in a relevant fields such as business or administration
-At least two years’ relevant work experience at an NGO or within the private sector
-Excellent written and verbal communications skills
-Fluent in spoken and written English; competence in Kinyarwanda and/or French a strong plus
-Ability and willingness to work weekends and outside of business hours if required
-Proficient in Microsoft Office
-Experience with systemic thinking and social constructionism
-Experience starting and/or running a business a strong plus

-Be comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment and be able to prioritize and multitask

What we offer:

Salary will range from 300,000 – 500,000 RWF (gross) and will be negotiated based on qualifications and experience.  Contracts are on an indefinite basis.  We are looking for people to start ASAP, but preferably no later than 1 November 2013. As part of your personal and professional development you will receive continuous internal training and coaching.
