Educat seeks Accountant

Do you want to join a growing, dynamic, and creative team, and contribute to substantial private sector development in Rwanda? We are seeking an Accountant to manage Educat´s bookkeeping. Main responsibilities include financial management and balancing Educat’s accounts, and facilitating individual and group trainings in financial management for the entrepreneurs in Educat’s programs.

About Educat:

Educat has operated in Rwanda since May 2008 and has been formally registered as an International NGO since April 2009. The vision of Educat is to contribute to poverty reduction through private sector development. We aim to approach this development by unleashing the full potential of the individual via a keen focus on creativity and innovation as driving forces in the creation of new and thriving businesses. Over the last five years, Educat has delivered long and short-term business and organizational development programs and workshops, facilitated conferences, and presented lectures at Rwandan and international universities. Our target group consists of entrepreneurs in different stages of development as well as youth in higher education.

About the job:

The Accountant will have two main roles. First, they will be responsible for all of Educat’s bookkeeping, ensuring that the organization meets all financial standards and requirements. Educat uses an online financial system and the Accountant – together with the Financial Officer – will be responsible for managing the system and entering all relevant data on a weekly basis. The second role will be as a trainer in financial management and bookkeeping for Educat´s trainees. This includes planning and facilitating learning sessions as well as developing existing training materials.

The Accountant will be responsible for:

-Financial Management
-Bookkeeping and accounting
-Training of entrepreneurs on financial systems

Desired qualifications:

Besides being ambitious, innovative and entrepreneurial, the ideal Accountant will have the following qualifications and competencies:

-A university degree in a relevant field such as business, finance, or accounting
-At least three years’ relevant work experience, preferably from the private sector and/or from national or international NGOs
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Fluency in spoken and written English; competence in Kinyarwanda and/or French a strong plus
-Ability and willingness to work weekends and outside of business hours if required
-Training facilitation skills
-Experience with online financial systems (please specify specific system in application)
-Experience with systemic thinking and social constructionism
-Experience starting and/or running a business a strong plus

What we offer:

Salary will range from 300,000 – 500,000 RWF (gross) and will be negotiated based on qualifications and experience.  Contracts are on an indefinite basis.  We are looking for people to start ASAP, but preferably no later than 1 November 2013. As part of your personal and professional development you will receive continuous internal training and coaching.
