Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) the leading National Humanitarian Organization in Uganda and a member of the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is seeking to recruit dynamic, self-motivated individuals to fill the enlisted positions; following the support received from the Joint Population Program – financed by DFID through the World Health Organization (WHO) to Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS); to establish three new blood collection teams in Lira, Arua and Moroto Districts. URCS has therefore, been entrusted by UBTS to contract and jointly implement activities for this program. URCS is an equal opportunities employer mindful of gender balance in its establishment.

Job Summary:
 The Nursing Officer will be responsible for providing nursing care service to blood donors before, during and after blood donation with the most effective and efficient customer care skills

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    Ensures that blood donors are received and attended to promptly.
    Provides nursing care services to Blood Donors in line with standard operating procedures.
    Attends to Blood Donors and ensures a healthy working environment is maintained at all times.
    Prepares and carries out aseptic procedures.
    Manages and accounts for all allocated resources.
    Participates in research activities.
    Imparts knowledge and skills to Donor Care Assistants.
    Adheres to Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics.
    Checks Blood Donors before donation in line with the standard procedures.
    Conducts Pre and Post Blood Donor counselling.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
    The applicant should be trained at Registered Level or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
    Member of the Nurses and Midwives Council;
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the knowledge of local language is an added advantage.
