Objective of the Programme
DAI is currently bidding for a DFID funded programme to develop, design and implement its Kenya Improved Community Security (KICS) Programme. The programme will result in increased security for Kenyan men and women and build greater capacity to manage disputes at community level.

Scope of Work
The Knowledge Management Advisor (KMA) will be an integral part of the Implementation team, working in close conjunction with the M&E and Research Team, and promoting programme activities and results to relevant audiences and ensuring visibility of the KICS programme within Kenya and beyond. The KMA will be responsible for the overall design, development, and management of the project’s external outreach and visibility initiatives as well as internal documentation, synthesis and sharing of information.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Establish effective knowledge management processes across the KICS programme, ensuring efficient consolidation of results, success stories and other programme updates across all team members, implementing partners and DFID representatives, working closely with other M&E and research team members, and Component Manager.
• Present progress toward achievement of overall program objectives and outputs effectively and efficiently
• Support compilation of quarterly and annual reports on the project’s progress
• Direct the regular production of project marketing materials such as success stories, presentations, and two-page briefs, in collaboration with office and technical staff
• Design, develop, and manage content of project website and related electronic communications
• Lead effective external outreach campaigns, ensuring visibility of KICS programme with relevant audiences
• Update and modify the project’s communications strategy to reflect evolving communications priorities and changes in the project structure
• Manage project’s public events such as openings, press conferences, and forums
• Collaborate with media as required, including interface with local, regional, and national media outlets
• Review project external communications and project-sponsored academic materials to ensure quality control and consistency with project intellectual property agreements
• Provide timely reports and feedback on deliverables as required

Qualifications
• A degree in media, communications, international development or related area
• Three to five years of experience in marketing communications, information management, public affairs, public awareness and/or media.
• Understanding of security sector reform issues in Kenya programmes particularly on raising public awareness of legal provisions, police obligations and services available to women and girls.
• Strong understanding and networks within Kenyan media and communications sectors.
• Communication skills developed in a marketing or advertising firm, or in media.
• Experience working on DFID-funded projects is preferred.
• Demonstrated report writing skills.
• Fluent English is required
