Chief Executive Officer(Gatsby Microfinance)- Job vacancy in Uganda

Job Title: Chief Executive Officer

Background Information:
Gatsby Microfinance is a subsidiary company to Uganda Gatsby Trust. A trust supported by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation (UK). Gatsby is a fast growing company with branches in Kampala, Mukono, Jinja, Mbale, Soroti, Fortportal and Masaka. Its Head offices are located in Katwe. In order to meet its needs in strategic planning, the company is seeking to recruit dynamic, self motivated, result oriented personnel to the following positions.

Key Responsibilities
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will:
• Be responsible for leading the development and execution of the institutions’s long term strategy with a view to creating shareholder value.
• Provide strategic leadership to the institution on policy, resource mobilization and strategic partner development.
• Oversee day to day management of the institution to ensure effective implementation of policies, procedures and systems.
• Act as a direct liaison between the Board and the management of GMFL and communicate to the Board on behalf of management.
• Be responsible for directing and motivating staff towards the attainment of the company goals and objectives.
• Communicate on behalf of the institution to shareholders, employees, Government authorities and other stakeholders.
• Be responsible for the implementation of external / internal audit recommendations.
• Be responsible for the public relations of the institution.

Desired qualifications and Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field
• A Masters degree in a Business field with a bias in Finance.
• At least 5 years managerial experience in microfinance/ finance institution with a successful track record of performance.
• High analytical and problem solving ability gained through professional & practical experience.
• Ability to work in a turbulent and un-predictable environment where responding and managing change is essential.
• Sound leadership, decision making and management abilities.
• Demonstrate critical competence in four broad categories: commitment to results, business, leading change, and motivation.
• Experience in handling Board governance.
• Age: 35-45 years
