About SDFG:
SDFG was launched in Sudan in April 2010 as an umbrella group to serve as a think tank and venue for indigenous research, analysis, advocacy, outreach and campaigning for a peaceful democratic transition in Sudan. SDFG founders come from different geographic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and are among the most prominent figures in the civil society movement in Sudan. The organisation’s areas of focus include the defence and promotion of human rights, peace building, conflict transformation and empowering women, youth and other vulnerable groups for greater engagement in the public debate. The organisation thus provides an umbrella for collaborative professional work among independent civil society groups and opinion leaders from across the Sudan and in the Diaspora.

Job Summary:
The Project Coordinator will contribute to the implementation of SDFG’s programme, conducting tasks such as advocacy, research, capacity building and engagement with partners.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    Contribute to project and activity planning and networking with partners and other key actors
    Contribute to ensuring the effective implementation of project activities and events
    Contribute to ensuring the effective financial management of project activities
    Contribute to ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of project activities, and donor reporting
    Lead in developing research agendas and projects, focusing on areas of conflict analysis, governance, human rights and social cohesion
    Contribute to the development and editing of the newsletters and other advocacy and policy activities and products
    Contribute to strategic planning and fundraising opportunities for the programme and the organization

Qualification Skills and Experience:
    At least 3 years’ experience implementing projects in the non-profit sector related to conflict-affected and logistically challenging environments, preferably in the Horn of Africa
    The applicant should hold a University degree or comparable experience in the field of international relations, human rights, governance or similar fields
    Experience of project management, including financial management, monitoring and evaluation of activities, and donor reporting
    Experience of engagement with awareness-raising, research, advocacy and policy issues
    Excellent communication and writing skills in English
    Ability to network with a range of different actors
    Knowledge of the Horn of Africa, including Sudan and South Sudan
    Strong team player
    Experience of working in security sensitive areas
    Understanding of conflict-sensitive approaches theory and tools
    Experience of partner capacity building
    Arabic language skills
    Experience of public awareness-raising and media-related activities

Terms and conditions:
Annual salary range: Competitive with Uganda-based international NGOs
Benefits, according to the Ugandan Labour law: specific health and accommodation allowances.
