About UWOPA:
With funding from European Union, Plan International and UWOPA together with 2 other partners in Lango sub region will be implementing a 3 year project titled “Combating silent violence against younger children”. The project will cover the districts of Apac, Lira, Alebtong, Dokolo and Kole. The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of families in Northern Uganda to care for and protect children against violence.

Job Summary:
The Project Officer will offer technical support in programme planning, implementation and monitoring of the Violence against Children project. The post holder will be expected to provide technical support on UWOPA’s efforts aimed at preventing violence against children. He/she will coordinate, and facilitate implementation of the project at national level and also participate in local level activities in Northern Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    Develop and schedule project work plans in accordance with specifications and funding limitations.
    Implement all VAC activities and write periodic reports in accordance with EU funding requirements.
    Organize meetings with parliamentary committees, ministries, round table members and civil society organizations in relation to VAC.
    Participate in relevant advocacy events and lobbying processes at national and regional level regarding violence against children.
    Periodically track of relevant funding opportunities for the organization and support in developing and ensuring timely submission of funding proposals.
    Represent the organization in partnership and networking meetings.
    Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
    The applicant should possess a Bachelors’ degree in social sciences, development studies, law or any other relevant degree.
    Additional training in Gender or related field will be an added advantage.
    At least three years’ experience in a reputable NGO preferable with a focus on children.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills
    Possess the ability to work as part of a team and across diverse program areas
    Strong working knowledge of basic Micro soft programmes and internet.
    Possess willingness to travel widely to Northern Uganda.
    Prior experience in managing EU projects will be an added advantage
