Education Specialist(Plan International)-Job vacancies in Uganda

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  •     Offer technical support to country management team (CMT), staff, and partners in formulating country specific policies, strategies, program outlines and guidance on the strategic direction of the learning program within Plan.
  •     Periodically review all learning related projects/programs to ensure that they are of quality and aligned to the country strategic plan, program outlines, Plan principle and learning strategies in Uganda
  •     Build the capacity of Plan Uganda staff and partners to integrate learning programs to ensure effective implementation at all levels program/project cycle
  •     Monitor learning projects implemented by Plan and/or its partner, provide advice in evaluation design, and take corrective actions to ensure smooth progress and achievement of set targets
  •     Develop a system for capturing, documenting and disseminating Plan's experiences, lesson learnt and “best practice” to other partners, stakeholders including Plan programs in the RESA Region.
  •     Identify local resource mobilization opportunities and provide technical assistance in the development of fundable proposals to support implementation of learning /or related programs
  •     Prepare and submit a monthly work plan and respective progress reports to enable proper progress of project implementation
  •     Initiate, develop and nurture cordial relations with relevant government ministries, partners, and the wider stakeholder fraternity and represent Plan Uganda at relevant learning related events/fora to ensure Plan is acknowledged as a legitimate partner/actor

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  •     The applicant should possess a Master’s degree in Education, preferably in Primary and or/non-education methods.
  •     Eight or more years’ experience in developing and implementing learning programs, five (5) of which must be in a similar position
  •     Experience in using the ECCD approach
  •     Experience in Team leadership, capacity building for partners and staff and working with people from diverse cultures
  •     Extensive skills and experience in designing, planning, monitoring and evaluation of learning programmes and projects;
  •     Practical experience in proposal writing and fundraising
  •     Experience in national level education advocacy and policy influence
  •     Excellent report writing skills, good communication and interpersonal skills
  •     Strategic thinker with strong facilitation skills
  •     Experience and skills in budget management
  •     Computer literacy skills i.e. working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
