About the role

The Alumni Relations Coordinator will contribute to the implementation of Australia Awards’ overall strategy for Alumni development, reintegration, communications and relationship management. The role is important in achieving Australia’s development and diplomacy objectives in Africa.

Key responsibilities include:

  •     designing and writing communications pieces for publicity and website content
  •     writing stories to showcase the contributions of Alumni to development contributions
  •     coordinating Alumni events and meetings
  •     coordinating alumni interaction through a social media space built on the website
  •     providing administrative support to the implementation of Alumni activities

About You

Selection criteria

  •     Undergraduate degree in communications, public relations or relevant field;
  •     Minimum five years’ experience in a similar position;
  •     Experience producing communications products such as newsletters, stories and website content;
  •     Experience of establishing and managing effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver outcomes.
  •     Outstanding writing and editing skills in English;
  •     High level of interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with diverse groups, both within the Alumni network and Australia Awards; ;
  •     Evidence of superior verbal communication skills;
  •     Strong administrative and organisational skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a cross cultural, multi-disciplinary team;
  •     Demonstrated ability to support project management to deliver outcomes to specified quality level within agreed time frames;
  •     Excellent attention to detail and accuracy;
  •     High level of initiative;
  •     Microsoft Office skills to an advanced level.

Personal Qualities:

    The successful candidate must be able to work independently, operate under pressure to tight deadlines, and be able to multi-task. The appointee will be outgoing and comfortable meeting people and representing the organisation externally, and will be enthusiastic, reliable, flexible and well-organised.

(i) to equip Africans with the skills and knowledge necessary to influence the economic and social development outcomes of their own countries; and
