About Project:
Plan Uganda received funding from SIDA to implement a three-year pilot (2013-2016) named “A Working Future Project.” The Project goal is to support employment and improve the economic empowerment of young people in Tororo and Kamuli. The project seeks to increase access and utilization of financial services by young people; support young people acquire entrepreneurship, life and technical skills; Promote the public and private sector to support the employability of young men and women; and mobilize and strengthen youth led organizations / groups to actively engage the public and private sector in influencing decisions and policies on youth employability. The project will be implemented in collaboration with identified stakeholders and also seeks private sector actors to co-fund the project.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  •     Responsible for implementing programme activities to achieve project outcomes in line with the three year project implementation plan
  •     Participate in the development, monitoring and review of annual and quarterly project plans in the programme area for effective budget administration.
  •     Participate in the development and maintenance of a system for capturing, documenting and sharing project experiences, achievements, lessons learnt and best practices
  •     Monitor project progress and submit timely and quality reports to the Project Manager
  •     Build cordial relations with implementing partners, private sector, district officials and any other key stakeholders in project impact area.
  •     Represent the project at various fora/ events.
  •     Monitor partnerships to ensure timely and quality delivery of the project at all implementation stages and ensure utilization and accountability of all project resources including funds
  •     Ensure Plan’s Child Protection Policy and guidelines are followed in line with project implementation.
  •     Contribute to performance review meetings and assess project progress and agree on changes in strategy with key stakeholders.
  •     Perform any other tasks in accordance to the project expectations.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  •     The candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Development Studies or Entrepreneurship or its equivalent
  •     At least four years’ experience on livelihood enhancement projects particularly those that target young people.
  •     Possess the ability to interact with donors and partner organizations
  •     Report writing skills and good knowledge on tracking of project budgets and other resources.
  •     Prior experience in community mobilization approaches and coordination with government authorities including local authorities
  •     Prior experience in advocacy, youth participation and partnership management.
  •     Project management experience with excellent strategic and analytical thinking.
  •     Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  •     Cultural diversity; ability to work with people of diverse cultures and lead and motivate them to the project goal causes.
  •     Knowledge of community and school score cards will be highly advantageous
