Job Summary:
The job holder will offer technical and inspirational leadership for AAU's policy and campaigns agenda in line with Country Strategy Paper.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    Lead the development of, and coordinate the implementation of processes for quality research, intellectual and knowledge management and alterative modelling for policy influencing
    Initiate and sustain strategic networks and alliances for policy advocacy, Campaigns and maintain linkages and communication to global policy team, ensuring effective information flow in and outside MU
    Lead on resource mobilization for the Policy Unit by developing concepts and proposals and manage the Unit's Budget and financial control in line with the thematic strategies and Country Strategy Paper (CSP)
    Oversee and guide in the strategic planning processes for policy research advocacy and campaigns, at the local, regional and national levels in line with the CSP and global campaign processes
    Develop and monitor the implementation of broad frameworks, goals and standards for monitoring Program Focus Area (PFA) programmes, communicate and consolidate reports and submit to relevant stakeholders in line with the organizational accountability systems' requirements
    Lead the identification and consolidation of programme knowledge needs for all AAIU Programme Focus Areas and its partners, coordinate the generation, storage and access to knowledge in line with the MU Knowledge Management Strategy Inspire, motivate and develop staff of the policy unit in line with Human Resource Manual

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
    The applicant should hold a master's degree in Governance, policy, law or related development field
    At least six to ten (6-10) years’ relevant experience
    Relevant post graduate qualification will be an added advantage
    Additional training in Policy Advocacy and Analysis, HRBA, Project management
    Prior working knowledge in: Planning and Budgeting, Networking and relationships management, Democratic Governance, Human Rights, Climate Change, Sustainable Livelihoods, Government procedures and processes.
    Demonstrated passion to work for human dignity, commitment to ActionAid values, demonstrate awareness of Governance issues nationally and globally
    Strong Management and supervision
    Demonstrated researches undertaken with a proven track record of papers, researches and or publications
    Demonstrated ability to inspire others
    Strategic planning and Project development skills
    Research formulation, policy analysis and formulation skills
    Budgeting and budgetary control skills
    M&E project skills
    Demonstrated Fundraising and contract management,
    Performance management skills
    Partner capacity development skills
    Networking and stakeholder management and advocacy skills
    Good documentation and information management skills
    Good reporting skills
    Bold, outspoken and courageous.
