About AHA:
Dr. Dawit Zawde launched Africa Humanitarian Action (AHA) in 1994 with several like-minded individuals, in response to the atrocities of the Rwandan genocide. More than a decade later AHA continues to provide life saving humanitarian assistance to refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and local communities across Africa.
To date more than 12 million people affected by crisis have benefited from the support of AHA, in 17 different countries:  Algeria, Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Congo (DR), Ethiopia, Guinea (Rep), Kenya, Liberia, Namibia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda and Zambia.

Job Summary:
 The Laboratory Technician conduct specialized laboratory analysis for disease diagnosis, treatment, prevention, control and research.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  •     Carrying out Laboratory investigations and submitting reports to the Data Clerk
  •     Collecting, handling and transporting specimens to the Laboratory.
  •     Preparing specimens and reagents according to established procedures.
  •     Requisitioning necessary supplies for Laboratory work.
  •     Participating in primary health care activities.
  •     Participating in research activities.
  •     Adhering to professional and service code of conduct.
  •     Promote workplace health and safety within the unit
  •     Participating in quality assurance for Laboratory tests.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
    The candidate should possess a university Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology OR higher from a recognized Institution.
    The applicant must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
