Job Title: Field Services Engineer

Reports to: Operations Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure world-class service levels for all satellite/terrestrial installations 
  • Conduct sampled site visits and ensure quality installations weekly
  • Establish and maintain operational processes to achieve optimum service levels
  • Adopt best practices in technical operations
  • Telemetry usage and management (event and fault logging)
  • Streamline processes, operational efficiency and cost effective delivery
  • Work with the Operations and Sales Manager to assist high end clients
  • Compile and submit timely reports as per weekly site checks done
  • Provide hands on support for installer agents and dealers to perform quality installations and rectifications in the field
  • Identify individual training needs and together with the trainers develop plans for immediate and long-term performance improvements.
  • Proactively solve problems and provide timely resolution to ensure minimal impact to customer satisfaction.
  • Identify the most appropriate course of action for problem resolution and effectively communicate plans to those impacted.
  • Offer support to the supervisory team in to attaining the agreed service level objective and quality through real time monitoring of installer agent performance thus reducing call centre traffic
  • Interact and coordinate all design activities with BTD Engineering department
  • Ensure effective implementation of new firmware/software/hardware on various broadcast equipment/systems/platforms
  • Take ownership of own training requirements and up-skilling of in-country technical support resources
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant should possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, three of which in a role related to technical broadcast
  • Possess the ability to work at heights above ground level including masts and tower 50 meters to 200 meters
  • Excellent computer literacy skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and able to demonstrate a drive for results with a professional approach.
  • Excellent knowledge on customer care processes and procedures
  • Possess excellent people management, leadership and counseling skills
  • Prior experience with staff development, performance management, and cross training
  • Possess a high degree of integrity, work ethics, a proactive and positive attitude
  • Fluency in English language and at least one local language.
  • Be an excellent team player.
  • Age: 35 years and below
