Job Title: Project Coordinator
Organisation: Palmetto Medical Initiative (PMI)
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: United Nations Medical Director
About PMI:
Palmetto Medical Initiative (PMI) is revolutionizing the approach to medical intervention in the developing world by moving beyond relief to achieve long-term improvements in health. PMI is a rapidly growing grassroots NGO that exists to provide sustainable, quality health care to developing nations. In a world where nearly half the population lives on less than $2 per day (Source: UN, 2013), socialized healthcare systems are overcrowded, poorly equipped, and underfunded. PMI is bridging the gap between ineffective, socialized care and unaffordable, private care. PMI is committed to effectively implementing projects across East Africa and Central America to transform the health of our partnering communities. We have seen our model proven through our pilot project in Masindi, Uganda. This project became operational in January 2010 and became operationally sustainable within 13 months of opening. To date, more than 40,000 patients have received care through PMI’s efforts in Uganda. By creating sustainable medical centers that offer low-cost services, PMI is able to increase accessibility to high-quality healthcare and empower communities for a healthy tomorrow.
