Job Summary:
The Program Focus Area Coordinator Just and Democratic Governance will offer innovative leadership for AAU's governance work in line with Country Strategy Paper, relevant organisational policies and Uganda Context
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate the development, implementation and report on the performance of Just and Democratic Governance thematic plans and budgets in accordance with Country Strategic Paper and organisational policies.
Contribute to resource mobilisation for the Just and Democratic theme identify funding priorities/gaps in line with the thematic strategy and Country strategic Paper (CSP)
Develop program focus strategies for guiding planning, implementation, communication and provide support to respective units in line with the CSP IV and organizational Policies
Monitor programmes, communicate and consolidate reports and submit to relevant stakeholders in line with the organizational accountability systems' requirements
Provide technical support and strengthen the capacity of staff and partners for quality programming in line with CSP IV and organizational Policies
Conduct contextual analysis, research and analyze policies for generation of evidence for policy advocacy and campaigns in line with the CSP
Engage in, and coordinate local, national and international policy advocacy and campaign work in line with the CSP
Mobilize, coordinate and support the building and strengthening networks, coalitions and alliances and relationships with other stakeholders at all levels (local, national, regional and international) in line with MU CSP
Identify thematic and programme knowledge needs for the program and its partners, coordinate the generation, storage and access to knowledge in line with the MU Knowledge Management Strategy
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
The applicant should hold a Bachelor's degree in Law, Political Science, humanities or any other related discipline.
Relevant post graduate qualification and training in rights based approaches, human rights, democracy and governance is an added advantage.
At least 3-4 years of relevant working experience from a recognized institution.
Good knowledge of; Participatory democracy and governance approach, Planning and budgeting, Governance, Women rights, gender and poverty analysis, Monitoring and evaluation, Human rights and democracy, Civic education and empowerment, Conflict and Peace analysis/ Peace building skills, Knowledge of International Humanitarian Sector, Emergence assessment, deployment and response skills.
